Three outdoor swimming pools

Make a splash for your community

08 July 2025

Three much-loved local community swimming pools are benefiting from funds raised through our Teignbridge Lottery for Communities.

Ashburton Swimming Pool, Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool and Kingsteignton Community Swimming Pool have all received support to help cover the high running costs required to keep their doors open.

These pools are more than just places to swim - they are vital community hubs. They support residents’ health and wellbeing, offer swimming lessons, host swim clubs and aqua aerobics sessions, and provide a refreshing escape during the summer months.

Each of these pools is registered as a good cause with our Teignbridge Lottery for Communities - a simple, effective and free way for good causes to raise additional funds.

Registered good causes receive a dedicated webpage where they can tell people about their cause plus help with marketing and promotion to encourage people to play the lottery.

Since its launch in December 2022, the lottery has grown to support over 100 good causes — from swimming pools and scout groups to community transport schemes.

60% of all ticket sales from the lottery goes to good causes in the district - 50% to a chosen good cause and 10% to a central fund.

Lucy Wood, Chair of Ashburton Swimming Pool Trustees said: "Ashburton Swimming Pool has been delighted with the results since recently joining Teignbridge Lottery for Communities. Tickets sold have increased rapidly week on week and we've already had a couple of small wins!  It's simple to join and even easier to benefit from regular and dependable donations each month. We'd recommend it!"

Vanessa Steer, Secretary of Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool Association said: "The Teignbridge Lottery for Communities is a brilliant way for Bovey pool to have a regular income stream to help towards our running costs which have increased by over 36% in the past three years. It is especially important as it is so difficult to find support for running costs as most grant making organisations will only fund capital projects."

Clair Parker, Kingsteignton Swimming Pool said: “Our swimming pool is run by the community, for the community, and we have a variety of swimming sessions and activities for everyone from seasoned swimmers to those just starting out. Being part of the Teignbridge Lottery for Communities is a great way for us to generate additional funding and for local communities to benefit from the improvements we make."

Now in its third year, over 216,000 tickets have been sold, with winning prizes totalling £30,600 and one lucky winner scooping the monthly prize draw, provided by Gatherwell, our lottery provider.

Tickets are just £1, to find out more and buy tickets visit the website.

Players must be 18 years and over. Be Gamble Aware.
